04 November 2001 - The Grand Finale
The start of our final day, and to be honest we had mixed feelings. We were absolutely knackered, but of course didn't want the journey to end, especially with the prospect of going back to work beckoning....!

Today we would travel from Reims, up to Dover and then on to Ashford for the farewell dinner. We honestly couldn't find the energy to do anything exciting today, so unfortunately the journey up to Ashford was fairly uneventful. Arriving at Calais, late as usual, we drove more or less straight onto the ferry - we almost had to jump the gap!

The short ferry journey over the channel, and we were back in the country. Hooray!

As we approached customs, all the mini's were waived over to one side of the Quay. Here we go we thought, we're going to be here for some time! Fortunately, this was all preorganised, and they were just lining us up for a police escort to the hotel at Ashford! Chaos ensued in Dover, as nearly 100 mini's drove up throught the town, and up the motorway to Ashford! You should have seen the traffic jams!!

Settling into the hotel for the start of our last night on the Job, and we figured it would be sensible to get a bit of a snooze in, so we would be in top form. Alex went out like a light, but unfortunately Dan spent the afternoon tending to a sick computer back in his office - oh well I guess he has to get back into the swing of things back in the office sooner or later!

The night started fairly civilised, with a champagne reception and a pretty good meal. Dan's dad, his dad's wife and little sister were at the dinner aswell as he is good friends with one of the organisers, so best behaviour was required! Unsurprisingly this soon turned into something more fitting of the holiday as a whole!! Dan's little sister, Bethany, rather embarrasingly, totally outclassed both of us on the dance floor (and she's only 4!!), so we retreated to the bar for some serious final nights drinking!

Unfortunately, in the interests of decency, we have been asked to censor the rest of this report, so you will have to use your imagination I'm afraid!

Well, thats it - it's all over. We will be making updates to the website over the next couple of days, posting some of the best pictures and videos from the trip, along with any other things we can think up. We'll send you one last email when its ready.

Finally, thanks for all your emails over the last week, they have been as entertaining as I hope we have been for you. And sorry for rubbing in the fact that we've been on holiday while you've all been working......!

We're off for a kip now..... bye!
